Eddie Gobran is a capital markets professional turned health venture investor with deep expertise in finance and early-stage strategy. He began his career as a bond trader before moving into venture investing, where he now advises startups in digital health, medical devices, and biotech. Eddie is known for his analytical rigor, founder-focused approach, and operational insight. He holds a BASc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA in Finance from McMaster University. He also mentors startups through the Creative Destruction Lab, supporting founders at the earliest stages of company-building.

Murray Neal is an experienced capital markets executive and venture advisor with over three decades of leadership in finance. He spent 23 years at Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, where he served as Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income Syndication, and previously led Debt Capital Markets. Earlier, he held senior roles at Daiwa Securities Canada. Currently, Murray advises early-stage ventures as a member of the Investment Review Committee at Leva Capital and sits on several boards including Realize Medical and Maple Leaf Angels. He holds an MBA from Ivey Business School and an MSc in Biochemistry from Western University.

Matt Girgis is Managing Director of Volvo Car Canada, where he oversees national operations including sales, marketing, and service. Since joining Volvo in 2008, he has held progressively senior roles, including Vice President & CFO, and Deputy Head of Finance for Volvo Car Americas. Prior to Volvo, he held financial leadership roles at BMW Canada. With deep experience in retail operations, financial strategy, and organizational growth, Matt brings a customer-centric approach to leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Dr. Peter Azmi is a multidisciplinary strategist with expertise in molecular biology, innovation ecosystems, and venture development. He works at the intersection of science, business, and technology to drive scalable solutions in health, biotech, and digital innovation. Peter has led initiatives in precision health, data strategy, and emerging tech, with strengths in opportunity mapping and bridging research with commercialization. He has a strong track record in partnerships, investment advisory, and executive leadership across early-stage ventures. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Ray Muzyka began his career as a rural ER/family physician before co-founding BioWare, which he led through global growth and its acquisition by Electronic Arts, where he became SVP and Group GM. In 2012, he founded ThresholdImpact to invest in purpose-driven ventures in healthtech, medtech, biotech, and deep tech. He has invested in over 100 startups across 200+ financing rounds. Ray holds an MD and BMedSci from the University of Alberta and an MBA from Ivey Business School. He is a member of the Order of Canada and multiple business and innovation halls of fame.

Dr. Brent Norton is a physician-entrepreneur and board director with experience founding, scaling, and advising healthtech ventures. He founded PreMD, took it public on TSX and AMEX, and secured deals with AstraZeneca, Lilly, L’Oréal, and J&J. He was also a founding director of Novadaq, acquired by Stryker. Brent serves on the board and executive committee of the AFMC, chairs its audit committee, and supports national research strategy. He holds an MD from McGill, an MBA from Ivey, and is a certified director. He has advised startups across regulatory, commercial, and capital milestones.

Dr. Stephen Leonard is a physicist and intellectual property expert with 20+ years of experience in science commercialization and patent strategy. He holds a PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Guelph, and a BSc in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University. Stephen is a Partner at Aird & McBurney and Venture Advisor at Leva Capital. He co-founded Qvella, where he led IP strategy, and mentors early-stage startups at the Creative Destruction Lab, specializing in deep tech, diagnostics, and biotech ventures.

Jafar Shenasa is a regulatory strategy leader with 27+ years of experience in the medical device and digital health industries. At Proteus Digital Health, he led global approvals for the first ingestible sensor and digital medicine, including FDA (2012, 2017), EU, and China. He also led FDA approval of AppliedVR’s De Novo application and recently served as a Digital Health Advisor at the FDA’s Center of Excellence. His regulatory expertise spans cardiovascular, mental health, oncology, neurology, and more. Jafar specializes in global submissions, drug-device combinations, and digital health innovation.

Shaheen Yazdani is the co-founder and managing partner of Intercept, a B2B marketing agency serving global tech clients. She has led commercialization for Fortune 100 brands through demand generation and go-to-market strategy. Her focus is on enterprise hardware and cloud solutions. Shaheen serves on the executive committee for Springboard Enterprises’ Health Innovation Hub, advises a women’s health tech startup, and sits on boards including Scientists in School and Women in Communications and Technology. She holds an Honours BBA from Schulich and is a Certified Change Practitioner through Prosci.
Samer Bishay is President and CEO of Iristel and Ice Wireless, leading Canadian providers of wireless and IP services. He founded Iristel and expanded it to operate across three continents. A former systems engineer with the Canadian Space Agency, Samer now drives strategy across telecom and broadband, including rural development. He regularly contributes to media and policy discussions on connectivity and innovation. Samer holds a BSc in Space & Communications from York University and is a licensed jet pilot. In 2019, he was appointed Honorary Colonel of the Canadian Armed Forces’ 34 Signal Regiment.
John-Pierre Kamel is Managing Director of RFID Sherpas and a senior consultant with over 20 years of experience in retail, healthcare, and technology. He is a recognized expert in RFID and IoT, advising retailers and investors and delivering over $350M in client savings through sourcing strategies. He was previously Vice President at Excellis Consulting. John-Pierre holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from McMaster University and co-authored a textbook on enterprise mobility. His work spans luxury and specialty retail across North America and Europe.

Cal Millar is President of Channel Zero Inc., a Canadian media company he founded in 2000 with assets in broadcasting and film. With over 30 years of experience in finance, operations, and investor relations, he previously led Impact Graffiti Inc. and held executive roles at Frisco Bay Industries. Cal holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business and is ICD.D certified. He serves on the boards of ThinkTV and Lake of Bays Brewing, and chairs the Local Independent Television Services Group. His past board work includes Holland Bloorview and the YMCA.

Joe Lu is a real estate entrepreneur and angel investor focused on social impact and wellness-based communities. He has completed nearly $70M in real estate transactions and is now building Heal House, a wellness brand offering senior living, mobile services, and holistic healing. He also founded a school in Ghana and is developing a biohacking-based wellness facility in King City. Joe holds a marketing degree from Seneca College and is studying osteopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, and plant medicine, combining entrepreneurship with a passion for integrative health.
